Five wildlife-inspired knitting patterns reach Ravelry's "Hot Right Now"

Just weeks after launching our first Knitters in Residence cohort, all five of our open-access knitting patterns have appeared on Ravelry’s Hot Right Now list.

For a brand-new conservation initiative, that’s something we’re incredibly grateful for. But what excites us even more than the rankings are the conversations happening around the patterns.

Knitters are sharing stories and reading about the traditions of Vega, learning about seabird conservation, and connecting with wildlife through a craft they already love. Some have returned to knitting after years away. Others are planning trips to Vega or telling us they’re seeing eiders in a completely new way.

This is exactly what Knit for Wildlife was created to do.

Our goal has never been simply to publish knitting patterns. We want to create meaningful encounters between people and wildlife. Using knitting as a gateway to conservation.
