Material as the Story: Partnering with Stormdal Ull
One of our resident knitters made the beautiful choice to work with wool sourced directly from the landscape where our story is unfolding. That search led us straight to Stormdal Ull. As soon as we reached out, they were all in.
Seeing local partners jump on board adds immense value to this project. It creates a deep, meaningful connection not just for our knitters, but for the local communities themselves.
Clear, Traceable, and Totally Natural
Stormdal Ull is a small-scale mill working with raw wool from across the Helgeland region, including Vega. They focus on:
Traceable Origin: Every single fleece has a clear, transparent history.
Zero Dye: They work exclusively with the rich, natural colors of the sheep.
Fibre Education: They open up the entire raw production process to the public through dedicated courses in spinning and fiber work.
“Knit for Wildlife isn’t just about telling stories. Sometimes, it’s about what happens when the material itself becomes a living part of the narrative.”
We are incredibly excited to see how this local, raw material shapes our residency designs over the coming months.
